Carpe Diem

Hello Everyone,

Have you ever noticed that when your day starts out great, it usually stays that way?  And if it begins with a frown or something goes wrong, it is usually downhill from there?  People say you can control how your day goes with your attitude, and I am one who is starting to believe in that adage.

Gateway to the Gridiron

Hi Everyone,

Starting this weekend, college football will kickoff its season.  We are big fans of college sports and look forward to the brief season each Fall. It's a chance to see old friends and enjoy the campus that we loved so much. College was many years ago for us, but when we return to watch a game, it never seems as if it was that long ago.  College looms large in our memories as it does for most people we know.

Oh Canada

Hi Everyone,

Shortly, we will be heading up to Canada for some R and R.  There are so many wonderful places on this continent, it seems a shame to be looking for a vacation spot across the pond or the Pacific when there are options that we can get to by car.  By car you can actually see and experience things along the way instead of admiring the horizon from a jet.

Solitude

Hello Everyone, There's a certain romance about a wilderness cabin that you can't duplicate anywhere else. If the workaday world gets you down, there is nothing quite like escaping to the middle of nowhere where the views just happen to be breathtaking and are as unspoiled as Mother Nature intended them to be.

Retail Therapy

Hi Everyone, Perhaps you've gathered that I'm a shopaholic. Not in the have-to-acquire-everything way that can be harmful to the psyche and the pocketbook, but in a "feast for the eyes and the soul" kind of way. I am easily swayed by ingenuity, fine craftsmanship and anything that is original and well made. When we go on vacations, my son likes to swim, my husband likes to eat and I, well, I like to shop.

Mightier than the Sword

Hi Everyone, It is hard to believe it is August already. You know that summer is waning when you see school supplies dominating the aisles of the grocery stores. In today's post, I want to draw your attention to something new here at Megacalendars. What brought it to my attention was someone asked me if I had any ideas for bridge club favors that weren't too expensive, and something that could be used up and not create more clutter around the house.

Erudite

Hello Everyone, When I was young, my best friend's Dad collected wine and had quite a cellar in their basement. When we would eat together, I marveled at how much he knew about wines, the regions where they were grown, what vineyards and which side of the vineyard a certain vintage was from. He was one of the most knowledgeable people I've ever known when it came to wine...erudite when it came to all things wine.
