Taking Notes

Posted by Rebekka Quinn on 12/4/2015
Hi Friends,

Are you a visual learner?  I am.  Things, dates, reminders are much easier for me to remember when I write them down.  Not enter them into my PDA, but when I physically write them down.

I attended a workshop recently and there were about 200 of us there.  Most people had pen or pencil in hand and wrote notes about the different topics that the speakers presented.  A few individuals had their laptops out and were busily tapping out notes.  And I wondered to myself, how do they keep track of the thread of the lesson when they are otherwise occupied typing away?  Or is it the same as writing down, you listen with one ear while you write down the points you want to remember.

Just last night I pulled out my handwritten notes from the event and I knew exactly where I would find the information I was looking for...because I wrote it down.  Technology helps us in so many ways, but the evolution of the brain might just be a little behind the technology curve.  Simply writing something down and committing it to memory (or knowing where it is) seems to be far more lasting than keystrokes ever could be.

Just some food for thought.

Have a great weekend!
